There is a tunnel built through the mountains for making this connection and memorial is erected in memory of those killed during the construction of the tunnel. This tunnel link was of strategic importance during the World War II. Gotthard pass also connects the northern German speaking part of Switzerland with the Italian speaking region.

The last one in the tour is Susten pass which is at 2262 m. By the end of tour, one is left with lifetime memory of the multiple faces of the mighty Alps, nature’s marvels, God’s creativity and engineering marvels of mankind.
